R&D Engineering Tools Specialist
This position reports to
Engineering Manager Large AC Motors
Your role and responsibilities
Work with R&D (Research and Development) engineers to develop new products and software tools to manage products Develop programs to interface with commercial ERP and engineering designs tools Review and analyze a variety of engineering data, documents and reports Utilize ERPs (SAP, Teamcenter) to review and create concept design drawings Work with Senior Engineers to perform FEM (Finite element model​) analysis of legacy and conceptual designs Interpret regulatory standards and ensure designs meet standards Write papers, participate in technical meetings, seminars and conferences
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 5 years of experience in the design and development, or application of electric motors or rotating equipment and experience in programing interfaces and add-ons for ERPs and commercial engineering tools, or PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- A Master’s Degree in required field = Credit given for 2 years of work experience
- A PhD/Doctorate in required field = Credit given for 3 years of work experience
- 5 plus years of experience in either product application or development engineering of AC motors preferred
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Knowledge in NEMA, IEC, CSA and IEEE electric motor standards
- Experience in 2D/3D finite element method modeling such as ANSYS
- Experience in C#, Delphi, database interface program code (ABAP, SQL, etc.) or scripting based validations
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
