R&D Prototype Shop Manager

R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of Research and Development (R&D) employees and support them in achieving the agreed R&D targets. Each day, you will coach and develop the team. You will also showcase your expertise by helping in managing technologies, platforms, and Intellectual Property. The work model for the role is: Onsite This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power division in the USA. Main stakeholders are R&D Engineers, development teams, and product engineering teams. You will be mainly accountable for: • Serving as a technical resource for the team and providing technical support for internal and external contacts. • Planning and ensuring an appropriate project portfolio for the team. • Contributing to technical bodies relevant to ABB R&D, inside and outside the company. • Developing and acquiring competencies that will be needed for the development of future products and systems. Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience working in R&D, management, manufacturing and/or similar military background.
  • Hands on working experience with Milling Machines, Lathes, Waterjet Cutting Machines, Wire EDM Machining, Press Brakes, 3D Printers, and/or other typical machine shop equipment highly preferred. Certified Tool and Die Maker or Certified Machinist Journeyman desired.
  • Proficient in using MasterCAM (or similar) with experience in 3D CAD Software design a definite plus.
  • High level of organization and experience with machine shop/manufacturing processes and logistics, planning, managing, and executing projects.
  • Project finance knowledge and proven ability to manage budgets.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
