About the team:

The Global Markets Planning and Insights Team leads the charge to empower the Global Markets organization to run effectively, identify key business opportunities, and operationalize key strategic initiatives. The Global Market Competitive Insights team partners with key global leaders in the business to identify, synthesize, and quantify market and competitive opportunities across multiple business categories. The team spans skills across research, analytics, modeling, strategy, and executive reporting.

About the role:

The Manager, Global Market & Competitive Insights, will require strong analytical and strategy skills, the ability to gather and analyze extensive competitive data to distill practical insights, and the capability to convey compelling stories to eBay's senior leadership team.

The Global Market & Competitive Insights Manager is responsible for synthesizing data into actionable insights for eBay's Global Market business, working closely with the Global Market general managers to provide market trends and competitive insights, and supporting business strategy discussions for the global market leadership team.

What you will accomplish:

  • Analyze various sources of data to identify market and competitive trends and insights, and translate them into clear, practical recommendations
  • Delve into financial statements and reports to understand key trends and build out models supporting recommendations
  • Develop insightful market intelligence, author executive-level reports regularly, and make informed recommendations to the global market leadership team
  • Conduct in-depth desktop research and synthesize it into quantitative modeling and qualitative insights to inform business performance and strategy
  • Develop and manage vendor partnerships to ensure the best quality of data. Proactively seek areas of improvement and solutions when identifying any gaps
  • Stay on top of market and competition trends, and be responsible for weekly market and competition updates to the global market team
  • Manage multiple ongoing projects in an organized fashion, including developing clear project plans, partnering with team members across the organization, and delivering key deliverables in a timely manner
  • Develop strong professional relationships and influence others in a matrixed organization. Engage and influence various leaders and cross-functional partners throughout the organization to move project deliverables forward

What you will bring:

  • BA/BS degree, with 5+ years of relevant experience in insights and strategy-related roles; experience in retail/e-commerce preferred
  • Excellence in structured thinking with superior analytical and modeling capabilities
  • Experience in manipulating large data sets, interpreting data trends, and crafting/visualizing business insights
  • Ability to communicate clearly and simply with mid-level and senior audiences
  • Skilled at cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong curiosity in understanding internal and external trends and insights, and always looking for improvement in work and organization
  • Highly responsible and deliver on promises for organizational deadlines
  • Mastery of PowerPoint and Excel required; SQL skills a plus

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$106,800 - $162,800

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
