BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Summer Intern programme you will be required to attend your site 4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

Salary    £23,100 Pro Rata

We design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations around the world.  We are the only provider of complex warships and their combat managements to the UK Royal Navy’s surface fleet. What you will be doing Naval Architecture at BAE Systems Naval Ships covers a large part of the ship design lifecycle; from concept design, through design & build, trials and commissioning, and delivery to the customer. Roles are available across the discipline; in Wholeship Engineering, Structures, Hydrodynamics, Stability, and Seamanship and Outfit, to suit your interest and skillset. As a Summer Intern, you will be joining for 12 weeks to contribute to, and learn from, our exciting projects. We will work with you to place you in a suitable role, tailored to your interest, where you will be a key part of a team for the duration of your scheme. Following your internship, there is the opportunity to be fast- tracked onto our Accelerate Graduate Scheme.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Wholeship Integration, involving Engineering support through build;
• Structural design, including through production;
• Hull design and performance modelling to meet customer requirements;
• Stability modelling through maturing design and build;
• Integration of Seamanship and Outfit equipment into the ship systems.

Skills As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering or Offshore Engineering.

To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.

All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
