BAE Systems do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected on our Industrial Placement programme you will be required to attend your site 4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager.

We design and build a full range of naval ships from offshore patrol vessels through to giant aircraft carriers, giving customers the capability to fulfil extensive naval operations around the world.  We are the only provider of complex warships and their combat managements to the UK Royal Navy’s surface fleet. What you will be doing

During your industrial placement, you will be working on the Type 26 Frigate Project as part of the Signatures team. You will be undertaking measurement trials on-board ship during Harbour Trials to provide assurance to the Ministry of Defence that the ship will be the quietest anti-submarine warship in the world. In addition to the measurements your work extend to understanding how individual equipment impact the overall Signature performance of Type 26 through the use of mathematical prediction modelling. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interact with Stakeholders (e.g. Test & Commissioning team, Royal Navy, Suppliers etc.) to facilitate testing. 
  • Undertake Vibration and Airborne Noise measurements on-board ships.
  • Conduct trials analysis, generate test forms and produce reports.
  • Undertake Whole ship impact assessments using the prediction model. 
  • Present results and reports to the Ministry of Defence.

Skills

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either a Science or Engineering subject.

To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
