A day in the life.

As our Placement Leader on the Business Insurance team, you’ll:

  • Growth Of Market Segment:
  • Contribute to segment success by driving profitable growth, ensuring market segment goals are met.
  • Promote interdepartmental and regional resource sharing where it adds value.
  • Drive innovation – continually seeking better ways to serve clients.
  • In conjunction with Practice and Sales Leaders, set appropriate growth goals and execute on key growth initiatives.
  • Management Of Placement Staff
  • Monitor employee workload and capacity.
  • Training, performance management and employee development.  Provide ongoing feedback to employees.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate programs and policies, including PTO, attendance, learning org, and travel and expense reimbursement.
  • Regular communications with employees, including 1:1’s and department meetings.
  • Lead employee recruitment, selection and onboarding.
  • Ownership Of BI Carrier/Vendor Relations
  • Maintain long-term, high-quality relationships with carriers and vendors, monitoring business placed in order to leverage programs that enhance the level of service and support provided to clients.
  • Participate in annual partner carrier planning sessions, in conjunction with other BI leaders, producers, and service/marketing teams.
  • Conduct and participate in quarterly update meetings to ensure proper activities are being performed to meet annual goals in conjunction with producers, account service teams, marketing teams and clients.
  • Notify Leadership of any company known to be in financial trouble so that we can notify policyholders of the company’s status if necessary.
  • Keep team informed of carrier personnel, underwriting and appetite changes.
  • Identify and communicate emerging industry trends, issues, and market intelligence to Producers, clients, team members and leadership.
  • Partner with internal leaders on maintaining, reviewing and negotiating carrier contracts.
  • Work closely with regional, and local resources to set strategies for maintenance of existing relationships as well as the development of new carrier and vendor relationships.
  • Annual review and coordination of lock-ins and programs.
  • Make recommendations and assist with annual budget process.
  • Facilitates carrier support/sponsorship of and participation in key MMA initiatives such as Circle of Champions and MMA University.
  • Provide Marketing Leadership to Placement Team
  • Participate in regular marketing meetings with team members to discuss and review marketing opportunities for both new and renewal business.
  • Work with producers and client service teams in the day-to-day marketing of new and renewal commercial lines business.
  • Handle marketing crisis as necessary.
  • Monitor areas where training to staff is needed.
  • Lead and facilitate placement team calls.
  • Act As An Advisor For Producers On Sales Calls With Clients
  • Participate in prospect and client calls as required.
  • Provide Business Insurance expertise to producers on client specific issues, meeting directly with the client in support of the producer when needed. 
  • Provide direct customer service to the client on accounts where it is required.

We’d love to meet you if your professional track record includes these skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ generalist business insurance experience including strong knowledge of property and casualty coverage and risk management issues.
  • Must be detailed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and high sense of urgency. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with management and peers.
  • Strong interpersonal and sales related skills in dealing with Producers, Account Executives, carriers and customers. 
  • Proficiency in MS office applications required.
  • State Property/Casualty insurance license required.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • CIC or equivalent required, CPCU preferred.
