AXA IM supports SAGE, an organisation dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ Elders

In May 2024, the LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group at AXA IM organised a meal service at an LGBTQ+ elders center in New York managed by SAGE to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). SAGE is a charity that works to achieve a higher quality of life for LGBT+ elders through support and advocacy for their rights, fostering a greater understanding of aging in all communities.

This visit was a meaningful reminder of the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ elders, who are twice as likely to be single and living alone, and four times more likely to be childless. These elders lie at the intersection of the struggles faced by both the LGBTQ+ community and older people. The participants included members of our global Management Board. Everyone felt immensely grateful to these trailblazers for their courage and resilience, which have paved the way for the current generation of LGBTQ+ individuals. Their stories and experiences are a powerful testament to the progress we've made and the work still ahead. As part of this engagement, AXA IM made a donation to SAGE. SAGE also hosted a global webinar on LGBTQ+ senior housing. Thank you to our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, I aM Proud for organizing this experience.
