Belgian tennis player Alison Van Uytvanck comes out

In a televised interview broadcast last weekend Belgian tennis player Alison Van Uytvanck publically came out as a lesbian. Van Utyvanck, 23, has just been ranked no. 50 in the world after her win at the Hungarian Open. She sat down and talked with Belgium’s Sports Weekend and openly discussed her relationship with fellow tennis player Greet Minen, 20, whom she’s been dating for two years. The pair plan to move in together soon.

“I don’t find it’s a taboo, [the relationship] makes me happy,” Van Uytvanck said on the show. “We do feel super happy together and that’s what we will show to the world… “Nobody has to justify why they are lesbian or gay, it is not a disease.

“We are very open about our relationship and my parents are proud of it,” she added. “That’s important because the support made us feel good.”
