Bernie Sanders Tweets Picture of Trans Flag in Show of Support

US Senator and 2020 Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has tweeted a photo of the transgender flag displayed outside his office, reports the Burlington Free Press.

He posted the image with the caption: "Discrimination has no place in our society. I am proud to display this flag as a symbol of my support for the transgender people across the country. We must stand with transgender people in all of our communities."

"The flag was hung outside our Senate office yesterday to recognize transgender visibility day, which is March 31,"he told his staff in an email on Tuesday.

The flag will remain outside his office for one week.

Sanders has been a long-time supporter of trans rights, standing up against Trump’s ban on trans people serving in the military in 2018.

“There is a reason the administration has not provided any scientific evidence to justify this policy: there is no justification for  this sort of discrimination,” he said at the time.

“Transgender people have served and continue to serve our country honorably in the military. Unfortunately, this administration is not treating them honorably.”
