Good Witch Star Responds To History-Making Series Finale Storyline

Good Witch, the fantasy comedy-drama that began back in 2015, came to an end last night (July 25) and made history in doing so.

The show's final episode, 'The Wedding', featured the first kiss between an LGBT+ couple for a Hallmark Channel original series, with the characters Joy and Zoey. This follows the channel's first LGBT+ kiss in an original movie in last year's The Christmas House, featuring Mean Girls' Jonathan Bennett.

The network is known for having previously experienced controversy over a lesbian-focused advert in 2019, so this LGBT+ representation here is groundbreaking for the channel.

Responding to the scene's airing, Zoey actress Kayana Teresa wrote on Instagram: “If you're not making history, you're not doing it right.

“Thank you to everyone who helped this story become a reality and to everyone who rallied for it until the very end and beyond. It means more to me than you'll ever know.”

According to ‘Digital Spy’, Good Witch is a co-production between Hallmark and ITV Studios, although it doesn't actually air on ITV in the UK. Instead, Netflix carries the show in the UK, and at the time of writing there are only five of the seven seasons available.
