Harry Styles Talks About Feminism, Sexuality and New Album In His Recent Interview To ‘Rolling Stone’

The 25-year-old singer, former frontman of One Direction, talks about his new solo album, the fact that he supports gender equality and the fact that he wants to ‘make people feel included and seen’, no matter their sexual preferences.

Although Styles has only publicly dated women in his public life, he hasn’t put any label on his sexuality. Styles has raised both the pride flag as well as the Black Lives Matter flag during his performances and states:

"I want to make people feel comfortable being whatever they want to be. Maybe at a show you can have a moment of knowing that you're not alone. I'm aware that as a white male, I don't go through the same things as a lot of the people that come to the shows. I can't claim that I know what it's like, because I don't. So I'm not trying to say, 'I understand what it's like.' I'm just trying to make people feel included and seen.”

He also talks about how ideas of masculinity have changed over time.

"I feel pretty lucky to have a group of friends who are guys who would talk about their emotions and be really open," he shares. "My friend's dad said to me, 'You guys are so much better at it than we are. I never had friends I could really talk to. It's good that you guys have each other because you talk about real sh**. We just didn’t.'"
