Italian Mayor Displays Message of Support For LGBT+ Community As Anti-LGBT+ Congress Begins

Chiara Appendino, the mayor of Turin in Italy, has proudly displayed a pro-LGBT+ banner from City Hall in response to an anti-LGBT+ conference being hosted in Verona.

The notoriously anti-LGBT+ World Congress of Families has recently opened in Verona, concerning many liberal Italians.

In response, Turin has displayed a banner that depicts a lesbian couple with their children, a heterosexual couple and their children, and a gay couple and their child. The banner reads: “Torino loves and welcomes all kinds of families.”

“It’s a beautiful message of inclusivity, which I believe is one of themes that characterises Turin and the history of this city,”Appendino said.

“As Italy and the world looks with concern to the congress in Verona, we in Turin have decided to launch a message of inclusivity to all families of all kinds and all genders,” City councillor Marco Giustaadded, noting that the banner was written in English so as to be accessible to as many people as possible.
