Marvel’s First Gay Spider-Man's Love Interest Is Gender-Swapped Hero
The debut of Marvel's first gay Spider-Man shows the web-slinging hero flirting with a gender-swapped variant of another popular hero.
According to CBR, Marvel has released a preview of Edge of Spider-Verse #5, including a look at the Counterfeit Catwalk story, written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Kei Zama. The story introduces readers to Web-Weaver, who was one of Peter Parker's classmates and pushed him out of the way before being bitten by a radioactive spider. In the preview, after begging for a crime to disrupt, Web-Weaver crosses paths with a male version of Silk, aka Cindy Moon. The two sharing a flirty conversation before Web-Weaver puts his responsibilities above the opportunity to venture off with this Silk.
Cindy Moon is a character created by writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos and first appeared in 2014's Amazing Spider-Man #1. Similar to Web-Weaver and the male Silk, Cindy and Peter Parker shared an attraction in the main Marvel Universe as well, due to the two heroes being bitten by the same radioactive spider. In the preview, Web-Weaver labels the male Silk as “rendezvous material” and “frustratingly hot,” while Silk invites Web-Weaver to go patrolling through the city together and gives Web-Weaver a wink as he swings away.
