Music Video Featuring Same-Sex Kiss Banned in Lithuania
Lithuania has banned a music video because it features a same-sex kiss.
The music video was from Irish band Skamp and features a variety of same-sex and straight kisses.
“This song is about love,” explained singer Erica Jennings.
“I thought it should contain all types of relationships, regardless of age or sexual orientation.”
Lithuania TV broadcasters chose not to air the video, citing the country’s 2010 “anti-gay propaganda” law – similar to Russia’s. The law bans any depiction of a “non-traditional” relationship.
“The decision of the broadcaster tells us a lot about our society,” Jennings added.
“Exposure to violence on TV is so normalized that it leaves no space for love and diversity whatsoever.”
