Netflix Releases Trailer For The Second and Final Season Of ‘Special’

The first official trailer for Special’s second (and final) season has arrived. The two-minute teaser shows our beloved lead character, Ryan Hayes (played by Ryan O’Connell), attempting to get his life back on track after his explosive argument with his mother Karen (Jessica Hecht) two months prior.

“Ryan really needs to get his shit together,” reads a description. “It's been two months and he still hasn't spoken to Karen since their fight and he has a gnarly case of writer's block that's getting him in hot water with Olivia.” He soon finds himself entangled with Tanner, a flirty dance instructor who, as we find out in the trailer, has a really hot boyfriend.

But, the show is intent on exploring other characters as well, namely in Jessica Hecht's Karen (Ryan's mom) and Punam Patel's Kim. As ‘Out’ reports, Kim has some things going in her love life when she meets Harrison, “a sensitive tech mogul with a humble background.” Meanwhile, Karen is trying to figure out what life is life after her darling boy has flown the coop.

“This season is about our primary characters — Ryan, Karen, and Kim — coming into their power and realizing they all deserve big gorgeous lives — whether society agrees or not, bitch!”

The final season will begin airing on May 20. It will be composed of eight 30-minute episodes.
