Non-Binary NASA Intern Calls Out Trump’s Military Trans Ban

An intern from NASA who identifies as non-binary has called out President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people serving in the military in a tweet that has since gone viral, reports the Daily Dot.

The US Supreme Court issued a ruling last week that lifted injunctions preventing the White House from banning trans people from serving in the armed forces. This decision now puts countless trans and gender-nonconforming people who are currently serving at risk of unfair dismissal, as well as preventing anymore from enlisting.

V Wegman, an intern at NASA, took to twitter within hours to criticize the court’s ruling.

“I’m a nonbinary NASA intern. Nothing about my identity makes me any less capable of working in the government,” Wegman tweeted on Tuesday. “This administration is manufacturing oppression as a distraction from real issues. #TransMilitaryBan”

The tweet has since been retweeted more than 7,000 times and liked by well over 30,000 people.
