Laura's Story
Culture
What aspects of Quadient motivated you to join the company?
From the start of applying for the Campaign Manager position at Quadient, I
felt that everyone was very open. There was a sense of working as “one team”
all over the globe and that truly resonated with me. I was offered to work in a
multicultural setting in Europe with people from many countries. I was
motivated by the opportunity to work with skilled professionals and advanced
tools. From the beginning, I had clear objectives and was offered to work
hybrid which offered flexibility especially being a parent of two children.
Recently, you became a part of the Valuable 500 Program. What advantages do
you personally and professionally gain from being a part of it?
Valuable 500, which Quadient is a part of is a global business made up of
500 CEOs and their companies who come together to innovate for disability
inclusion. This program was launched to address the gap in disability talent at
all levels. Quadient asked me to participate in this program as a mother who is
a caregiver of a child with a disability. The program is challenging at times
but also gives you the opportunity to grow personally and professionally by
exchanging ideas, sharing best practices and having open discussion about
creating inclusive workplaces. I feel like I am doing something to create a
culture that in the future my son will be a part of a more inclusive workplace.
What is your favorite part of working with the team?
The diversity we have as an organization really makes this my favorite part
of the team. Being able to bring in new ideas, learn new things and really see
the impact you can make as an individual. Being a global company, we have
colleagues and customers from all over the world who celebrate different
cultures, traditions and beliefs and share their unique experiences with one
another.
What sets Quadient apart as a unique workplace?
Inclusion is what makes Quadient a unique company to work at. Not only is
the company committed to creating a diverse workplace it encourages employees
to participate in different initiatives within our communities. We recently
joined a local Non governmental organization that establishes projects for
people with disabilities for “Cleaning Day” near our Milan office and what a
great day that was. I find priceless kindness in many working relationships at
Quadient. In March we gathered for the first time in London and it was like we
were in the same office for years. The level of understanding and collaborating
was great. It is wonderful that the company brings us together in person after
years of remote work.
What
valuable lessons or personal growth have you experienced as a result of your time
working at Quadient?
Mistakes
happen even if you work hard. I have found a company where you are not afraid
to or judged if you make a mistake because everyone is there to support one
another. Coming from a smaller company I am inspired by my managers, how they
are open to the team’s ideas and how they facilitate the dialogue.
Reflecting
on our Empowered Communities, how do you feel a sense of inclusivity within the
Quadient community?
Empowered
communities organize seminars, host speakers, curate publications on inclusion
topics and offer recommendations on movies and books. These communities are
forums where you can share your story and help people feel more connected with
one another. We are colleagues but we are also people with a story.
