X Factor Winner Dalton Harris Comes Out As Pansexual
X Factor winner Dalton Harris has come out as pansexual, sharing a powerful message with fans. The singer, who won the series in 2018, opened up about his mental health and sexuality following a break-up.
On Twitter he wrote: “I had a deep realization last night. The only reason I didn’t take my life today is because I spoke with GOD and I decided to make the biggest change I will ever make in my life. I want to live my life not running away from pain inflicted on me or the pain I inflict on anyone [sic].”
The 26-year-old, who, as ‘Metro’ reports, has previously been open about his mental health, added: “I want to be happy and truly smile. I ended a relationship that was the best thing that happened to me and that taught me so many things. Taught me that I am valuable and that I matter and deserve love. Thank you Ayose. I will love you forever [sic].
“I want to experience love and be honest with myself and everyone around me in my intentions. Not hide or mask feelings and or flaws. Not judge myself. Not abuse myself and or anyone else. I am thankful for my family and everyone who is around me.
“Today I am deciding to change my life. And live better. And sharing this is the first step because it was hard.”
Dalton went on to say: “And lastly to those that are still attacking my sexuality, My privacy is my business and whoever enters my bedroom will get there because of how I feel about them, any of the other physical checkpoints I should meet to make anyone accept me. My life is mine to live.’
He also shared a picture of the pansexual flag on Twitter and quip on Instagram: “To the boys with fragile egos, I am a TOP to you and your girlfriend. Or non-binary partner.”
Dalton has since shared his gratitude for his supportive fans, revealing that the term ‘pansexual’ had been searched a record number of times in Jamaica.
“Always good to help educate & spread awareness & acceptance,” he pointed out. “I am overwhelmed by the love. For those that experience similar challenges and reached out keep fighting and thank you for being here and continuing to hang in there.”
