YouTuber Protests Trump By Renaming Michigan Town “Gay Hell”

Elijah Daniel has bought the town of Hell, Michigan (population 70) and renamed it Gay Hell to protest Trump’s ban on flying rainbow flags in US embassies.

The 25-year old YouTuber tweeted: “Ahead of pride month Trump’s administration put a ban on embassy’s flying pride flags. so as of today, I am now the owner of Hell, Michigan.

“And my first act as owner, I have renamed my town to Gay Hell, MI. The only flags allowed to fly are pride.”

He later told NBC Newsthat the ban on other flags was a joke, but he’s done this stunt as a way of promoting political awareness for young people: “I have a young audience who is 16 to 24 who would not be involved in politics if it wasn’t in a funny or meme way,” he said.

“I’m just trying to have fun and get my audience politically active.”
