The FP&A function takes ownership for the consolidation and interpretation of financial data, the coordination and management of financial reporting (including the provision of insight, analysis and the accurate and timely delivery of end market budgets, management accounts and financial accounts) and the monitoring of financial risks.

The market is sophisticated, comprising of four business divisions units and a corporate center. The role has high complexity, requiring strong business partnering capabilities and management of team and a number of partners at various levels of seniority. The Manager will work with and advise senior Finance members in the market and will liaise with external vendors. In addition, the role will work very closely with Shared Services teams, the market's Financial Systems team and other members of the NAM A&P Finance team.

The role

The NAM FP&A Junior Manager is a critical member of the wider North America Finance team. The role includes working with Finance and Commercial teams in market to identify spend priorities, co-ordinate setting and forecasting of large spend budgets, maintain spend field through regular budget review and drive initiatives to improve overall spend management and spend efficiency. The Junior Manager will also:

  • Provide direction on accounting requirements;

  • Promote and ensure a sound controls & compliance environment, both in the market and in the Financial Control team;

  • Drive operational improvements and efficiencies;

The role reports to the North America A&P Manager.

Key responsibilities:

The NAM FP&A Junior Manager is responsible for providing analytical decision support, leading a principled, budget and spend performance management process for North America and ensuring that spend is accurately reflected in Diageo's accounts, including:

  • Handling senior in-market partners;

  • Working with the market to set quarterly Trade Spend & A&P budgets;

  • Analyzing spend, including using judgement to identify trends and exceptions, root cause issues, etc;

  • Leading A&P controls and effectiveness for Brand and Customer Marketing and Corporate A&P spend

  • Leading monthly meetings with budget owners to review Trade and A&P spend vs. plan, challenge and build, and align on O&R submissions

  • Actively working with other departments to provide business partner support, i.e., Coupa, CPS, etc

  • Preparing materials for and supporting regular BPM reviews with budget owners, including actuals vs. plan review and O&R development and submission

About you

  • University/College degree in finance / business

  • At least 4-6 years working experience, ideally in a multinational corporate environment:

  • Proven track record in FP&A and/or Financial Controlling is critical

  • Previous experience in a business partnering and partner management role is preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written English and strong communication skills

  • Proven experience with SAP FI /CO modules

  • Strong Excel knowledge

  • Strong business partnering skills (ability to build relationships, earn trust, influence, hold the tension when required)

  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to lead a change agenda, solve sophisticated issues and re-engineer processes

  • Hard working, flexible, inquisitive, proactive approach

  • Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX is an advantage

  • Experience with Shared services process activities is an advantage
