Technical Support Engineering: Internship Opportunities - Ignite Program for People with Disabilities

Overview

The "Ignite" Program for People with Disabilities is a one-year developmental initiative aimed at providing firsthand real-life work experience in the corporate world while receiving mentorship from exceptional leaders.

The program's primary goal is to foster greater inclusion within both our organization and the broader community. It offers people with disabilities an opportunity to enhance their technical and interpersonal skills, thereby equipping them with a competitive edge for future employment opportunities, both within and outside of Microsoft, upon completion of the program.

Participants will be assigned to project-based roles that contribute significantly to our business objectives and/or enhance current processes.

Program Track: Technical Support Engineering

Coaching and Mentorship

Throughout the program, you will be assigned coaches and mentors who will provide guidance, support, and valuable insights to help you grow both professionally and personally.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the Technical Support Engineering track, you need to have one of the following:

  • Technical support, technical consulting, or information technology experience
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology (IT), or related field.
  • Certifications in SQL, coding, development, or other related certifications.

  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to customers and partners who use Microsoft products and services.
  • Diagnose and solve complex issues, escalate critical cases, and collaborate with other teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Learn from senior mentors and experts in the field of cloud computing and data analytics.

  • Introduction to Systems Administration: Understanding roles, daily responsibilities, challenges, and skills for system administrators.
  • Operating Systems: Learning about installation, management, updates, and monitoring of operating systems and servers.
  • Identity & Authentication Services: Exploring on-premises and cloud identity services, multi-factor authentication, and security.
  • Basic Networking: Understanding networking protocols, the OSI model, IP structure, routing, and VLANs.
  • Virtualization: Learning about virtualization technologies like Hyper-V, VMWare, and Azure virtual machines.
  • Cloud Administration: Exploring cloud administration, hybrid cloud, Azure portal, and cloud storage.
  • Security and Monitoring: Understanding security protocols, email security, securing cloud resources, and mitigating attacks.
