Senior Actuarial Expert - Long Tail Lines Reserving

We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Expert, based in Munich or London. 

  

Your Team 

You will join the Long Tail Lines Reserving team within the CFO function at Allianz Commercial. The team is responsible for delivering high-quality reserving insights, supporting financial closing processes, and providing forward-looking views on profitability across global portfolios. We work closely with underwriting, pricing, claims, and finance functions to deliver data-driven insights that shape business decisions.  

 

The Impact You Will Have  

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering robust actuarial reserving analyses and supporting strategic decision-making through data-driven insights. You will play a key role in financial reporting, stakeholder engagement, and driving actuarial excellence across the organization. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

• Perform and manage actuarial reserving analysis, ensuring robust, accurate, and timely results   

• Support the team in deriving forward-looking views of profitability and business performance   

• Collaborate closely with underwriting, pricing, claims, and analytics teams to understand trends and provide insights   

• Communicate actuarial findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders   

• Support monthly and quarterly closing processes, delivering accurate actuarial inputs   

• Analyze and transform large datasets to generate actionable business insights   

• Develop high-quality presentations and reports for senior stakeholders, including C-suite   

• Engage with auditors, consultants, and group actuaries to ensure alignment and compliance   

• Act as mentor and reviewer for junior team members while working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, international environment   

 

What You'll Bring to the Role 

• Minimum 5 years of actuarial experience, with strong focus on P&C reserving 

• Experience in commercial insurance or reinsurance is highly desirable 

• Qualified or nearly qualified actuary (IFoA, CAS, DAV or equivalent) 

• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret large datasets 

• Proficiency in SQL; knowledge of Python or R is a plus 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills 

• Experience delivering presentations to senior stakeholders 

• Hands-on, proactive mindset with attention to detail 

• Strong collaboration skills with ability to work cross-functionally 

• Familiarity with IFRS 17 and financial closing processes is a plus 

• Experience engaging with external stakeholders (auditors, consultants) 

• Degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, engineering, or similar 

• Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial. 

• Fluent English skills, any other languages advantageous.
