AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong energy procurement background that enables them to engage with both internal business partners and external energy stakeholders. They will demonstrate an ability to think strategically about our business, our technical challenges and have a skill-set to drive tactical execution of contracts, energy initiatives and team goals. By establishing and growing business and technical relationships, and managing the day-to-day interactions with these partners, you will be responsible for meeting the energy team objectives to support AWS's infrastructure expansion in APAC region.

This role is based out of Sydney. 10% travel may be required.

Key job responsibilities
Role Ownership & Scope
- Own energy supply and retail electricity contracts for AWS data centers across Asia Pacific
- Negotiate and execute Energy Supply Agreements (ESAs) for AWS data centers
- Manage energy terms contractually with colocation providers
Key Responsibilities
- Review, negotiate, and procure energy supply contracts
- Identify market conditions, regulations, and structures to evaluate cost savings opportunities
- Ensure energy performance, efficiency, and continual improvement objectives are met
- Support rapid expansion of AWS's global cloud computing infrastructure

Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with AWS colocation sites and cross-functional partners
- Collaborate with colocation providers in energy procurement and contracting

A day in the life
Own and deliver electricity supply and retail contracts for data center energy supply
- Analyze trends and regulations in the energy space to proactively identify opportunities that benefit Amazon
- Work collaboratively with Amazon infrastructure and capacity delivery team to support the cost-effective energy and Utility energy compliant colocation sites
- Work with the aim of maximizing renewable energy content in delivered energy through green tariff, physical PPAs or retailer backed renewable purchase
- Delivering energy cost savings program across AWS sites and its colocation sites

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- - Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Energy/Engineering/Economics/Business/Math or similar field
- - 5+ years of experience in APAC energy markets, power contract negotiations, energy regulations, or energy generation technologies
- - Experience building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as retailers, utilities, regulators, consultants
- - Proven track record for cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, or customers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- - Proven ability to evaluate new energy markets, utility tariffs, policies, power contracts, or evaluating new energy sourcing opportunities and technologies
- - The ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects with minimal direction
- - Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills and attention to details
- - Be a passionate self-starter
- - Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
- - Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
