To support Amazon's growing business, Finance Operations Accounting and Analysis (FOAA) is seeking a Finance Manager who supports for Middle East North Africa (MENA) geographies. This is an exciting opportunity to drive business critical financial statement analytics for all business lines in MENA. By understanding the processes housed in the different general ledger accounts as well as the accounting required to correctly reflect these processes per US GAAP and Local GAAPs you will drive process improvements and explain account balances and fluctuations to Senior Leadership. You will also represent FOAA in projects relating to MENA geographies, for example new business launches, and offer accounting and process consulting.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead and develop the COS EMEA team, driving talent retention, professional growth, and succession planning while fostering an engaged and high-performing team culture
• Manage and execute the secondary ledger monthly and quarterly close for EMEA entities, including fixed assets subledger close (Boffin, Lynx, Deco, STACI), lease timing differences reconciliation, and reclassification journal entries across multiple local GAAPs
• Coordinate and deliver PBC audit support for Ernst & Young statutory audits, including retrieval of AP & accruals audit samples, invoice documentation, and payroll analytics across EMEA countries
• Prepare and review statutory financial statement supporting deliverables, including GEMS corporate information retrieval, managing director disclosures, and footnote preparation for interim and year-end filings
• Support regulatory and tax compliance deliverables, including journal book extraction and validation for AWS EMEA entities, trial balance reporting, and coordination with third-party service providers
• Drive process automation and efficiency initiatives leveraging AI solutions, Alteryx workflows, and Python-based tools to reduce manual effort and improve data quality in statutory reporting processes • Manage task execution through Asana, monitor deliverable timelines via dashboards, and proactively identify and escalate system issues through the Close Issue Tracker
• Collaborate with global COS teams (APAC, LATAM) to standardize processes, participate in service catalog reviews, and support cross-regional knowledge transfer and transition initiatives
• Conduct secondary ledger payroll analytics including MoM and YoY variance analysis against materiality thresholds, providing explanations for significant fluctuations to support external audit requirements
• Contribute to the team's innovation agenda by identifying automation opportunities, participating in ideation initiatives, and supporting the development and testing of new tools and AI-powered solutions
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with Central Accounting stakeholders, BI teams, and external auditors to ensure seamless statutory close and audit delivery
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven knowledge of both US GAAP and IFRS/Local GAAP, with strong understanding of statutory reporting requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience, including statutory reporting and financial statement preparation
- Strong English communication skills with ability to concisely articulate complex financial messages
- Advanced analytical skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Excel user
- Experienced people manager with proven track record of retaining, developing, and coaching high-performing teams, including building succession plans and fostering team engagement
- Experience managing relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies
- Strong understanding of financial close processes and statutory compliance requirements
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders across different time zones
- Hands-on experience applying AI/ML tools or automation technologies (e.g., generative AI, RPA) to financial processes or reporting workflows
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and communicate effectively across all levels
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Base pay for this position starts from EUR 4,250+ gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA.
