Program manager for a new strategic growth initiat...

Japan , Tokyo

DESCRIPTION:

Amazon Business is reinventing B2B procurement for organizations of every size, from small offices to the largest enterprises, public sector agencies, and educational institutions. Amazon Business Japan is one of the fastest growing businesses within the Japan Store and a recognized growth pillar for the long-term ambitions of the business.

We are launching a new strategic growth initiative that explores how a fully integrated customer experience - spanning awareness, sales engagement, and core flywheel inputs such as selection, pricing, availability, and delivery - can accelerate B2B growth when applied in a concentrated way. The goal is to learn what moves the needle, build repeatable playbooks, and inform how we invest at scale.

We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to lead this initiative end-to-end. This is a high-visibility role with significant leadership exposure. You will shape the program strategy, turn the current blueprint into an actionable plan, drive execution across marketing, sales, retail, third-party, operations, delivery, and technology partner teams, and report progress to senior leadership on a regular cadence.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will define what excellent looks like for our customers, establish the measurement approach that separates signal from noise, and personally drive resolution on the most critical unblockers. You will own the narrative of what we learn and influence how the learnings are scaled.

Key job responsibilities
• Own the program end-to-end: translate the strategic blueprint into a phased implementation plan with clear milestones, dependencies, exit criteria, and success metrics.

• Lead the customer acquisition workstream with central and local marketing teams, including design, funding, and measurement of marketing activities.

• Lead the customer engagement workstream: drive an elevated experience for target accounts across selection, pricing, availability, delivery, customer management, and adjacent services.

• Define the experimentation design - baseline, test vs. control, and hypothesis framing - so every activity generates transferable learning.

• Drive alignment across marketing, sales, retail, third-party, operations, delivery, advertising, and technology teams, securing commitments and resolving dependencies.

• Manage program financial guardrails; size and justify investment through the planning process with data-backed business cases.

• Establish a recurring leadership review with clear narratives, honest assessment of progress, and crisp decision asks.

• Codify learnings into scalable playbooks: what to replicate, what to drop, what requires capability investment, and the sequence for expansion.

• Own success metrics and reporting, including growth versus baseline, acquisition velocity, account penetration, service-level impact, and investment efficiency.

• Write high-quality narrative documents to earn leadership alignment and influence worldwide Amazon Business on capability investments relevant to Japan.

A day in the life
Your week might start with a working session on delivery improvements with operations and tech partners, followed by a deep dive with retail to close selection gaps for target customers. You might join a customer visit to observe procurement workflows not yet well supported online, then align with marketing on campaign design. Later in the week, you draft a leadership update, call out risks honestly, and make clear decision asks. By week's end, you have unblocked an operational issue, closed the loop on a competitiveness topic, and shipped an updated playbook chapter.

About the team

We operate with strong customer obsession, a bias for long-term learning over short-term wins, and a commitment to fixing the fundamentals before layering on complexity. You will work closely with business and technology leaders in Japan and with worldwide Amazon Business counterparts.
