DESCRIPTION:
Join us at AWS Lambda in building global scale compute platforms. We focus on serverless & container virtualization technologies, on trusted compute, and on server fleet tooling. We invent, build, and own building blocks that are the foundation of the cloud. This is an exciting opportunity for you to create new products and services of an innovative team that feels like a start-up!
We are looking for a new teammate who is enthusiastic, curious, empathic, motivated, reliable, with a good sense of ownership, and a drive to invent. In this role, you will work on Firecracker [1], an open source virtualization technology that is purpose-built for creating and managing secure, multi-tenant container and function-based services that provide serverless operational models. . Firecracker is deployed globally as part of AWS Lambda [2], Aurora D-SQL, and other AWS Services. Firecracker is also integrated by 10+ teams beyond AWS as part of their platforms [3]. Firecracker has an ambitious multi-year roadmap of tackling impactful and interesting opportunities in the quickly expanding ephemeral compute space - come help us make history!
Your main goal will be to create long-term customer value. You will: work to understand our customers' needs and engineer new features to meet them; own and automate operations; contribute new ideas and methods to continuously improve quality and development efficiency; innovate in the area of ephemeral compute platforms; and be a maintainer of the Firecracker open source project. This position also involves on-call responsibilities, which is typically done once every 8 weeks. We strive to keep this down and ensure our systems are fault tolerant. Our team values work-life balance and we respect each others time.
At Amazon, we are dedicated to making new team members feel welcome and included. We are a team that strives to grow each other through task assignments, mentorship, and trainings. As an Amazonian, you'll work with some of the most talented engineers in our industry. We believe in attracting, developing and retaining talent from diverse backgrounds. We value different perspectives and looking for team players who are working effectively with teams of diverse peers.
