Vendor Manager, Global Direct Sourcing

The (Global Purchasing Program) GPP organization's charter is to rapidly expand Amazon Stores presence globally, partnering closely with category management, business, technology, and product teams across Amazon, to deliver the world's largest selection to customers around the globe. Our vision is to leverage our global footprint to offer more selection to worldwide customers.

We are looking for an experienced Vendor Manager to grow our Direct Imports business, owning strategy for growth and vendor engagement. You will have end-to-end responsibility for managing the import supply chain processes from manufacturer to availability in our Fulfillment Centers, and for liaising with local Vendor Managers to develop and implement inventory management strategies that optimize customer experience. You will focus on establishing foundational vendor relationships and processes to enable vendors to work with Amazon at a coordinated global level.

The position requires an individual who can work autonomously in a fast-paced, demanding and often ambiguous environment. Additionally, since this position involves working with multiple stakeholders around the world in a fast-growing opportunity, we need someone with strong stakeholder management capabilities, a sense of ownership, and a great bias for action.


Key job responsibilities
●Onboard and educate vendors on new supply chain opportunities
●Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders of partnered vendors to support the joint import business
●Develop and improve the import business to deliver cost savings and new selection to Mexico.
●Oversee the integration of new vendors into the Amazon supply chain, supporting on product compliance and merchandising processes
●Liaise with local Vendor Managers to understand selection needs and standard contractual terms
●Work with key stakeholders around the world to maintain alignment
●Contribute to the development of best practices via the introduction of new/improved mechanisms and adherence to contract standards, while leading projects and driving business improvement initiatives with measurable outcomes-leveraging internal AI tools to deliver faster and better results
●Support category teams to monitor, analyze and own key performance indicators such as out of stock rate, unhealthy inventory percentages, vendor operational metrics, and marketing investments
●Work with vendors and Amazon operations to ensure a reliable, operational and cost effective flow of goods, from purchase orders to receiving at Fulfillment Centers
●Work with internal teams to understand the systems and variables that affect purchasing and vendor management decisions


A day in the life
In this role, you'll focus on building and nurturing relationships with senior vendor leaders while navigating the complexities of global supply chain management. Your day might include onboarding vendors, collaborating with local teams to understand inventory needs, and working across time zones with stakeholders to ensure alignment on global import strategies. You'll analyze performance data to identify optimization opportunities, support vendors through Amazon's compliance and merchandising processes, and drive business improvement initiatives that deliver measurable results. This position offers variety every day-from strategic relationship-building to hands-on problem-solving-all while working in a fast-paced environment where your contributions directly influence how we serve customers in Mexico.

Within the IE organization, our team's vision is to build the tools that enable our vendors and sellers to go global effortlessly, discovering global business insights that drive customer engagement and ensure our success in new and emerging marketplaces.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3+ years of with Excel experience
- 5+ years of retail, operations, product or program management, or business management/consulting with negotiations and delivering results experience
- 3+ years of P&L management and pricing experience
- Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience managing large data sets and utilizing to drive performance and process improvements
- Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development
