Students participating in the 2026 work experience programme with BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness will spend a week at the Submarines Academy for Skills and Knowledge (SASK), developing an understanding of the submarine sector.
Throughout the programme, students will work on a structured project brief, engaging in a variety of project-based tasks delivered by different business functions. These activities are designed to provide insight into the engineering lifecycle, including areas such as Project Management, Nuclear Engineering, Support Engineering, and Supply Chain.
Participants will collaborate in teams to complete function-specific tasks and will present their findings, enhancing both their technical understanding and communication skills. The programme also offers valuable opportunities to engage with industry professionals and network with current apprentices.
This intensive and fast-paced work experience is designed to build knowledge of BAE Systems Submarines while developing key employability and work-readiness skills applicable to a wide range of future career paths.
