DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, BBC Disclosure/Long Form Journalism team (BBC Scotland)
LOCATION: Glasgow, Pacific Quay
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Band C: £27,600 - £34,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the award-winning BBC Disclosure team and work at the forefront of BBC Scotland's investigations and Long Form Journalism output. As an Assistant Producer you'll play a key role in developing and delivering investigative content for TV, iPlayer, our new podcast strand and more. Please note, this is a 10-month role.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- As part of the award-winning Long Form Journalism team, you will find, develop and pitch investigative story ideas for TV, radio, and online whilst demonstrating innovation, a desire and determination to tell untold stories and a passion for original journalism that appeal to our diverse audience across all our platforms.
- You will identify and select stories predominantly for the Disclosure strand in a way which demonstrates strong journalistic skills and editorial judgement, as well as good legal knowledge and sensitivity to the dilemmas involved in and the people affected by these decisions.
- You will drive films, both in terms of visual style and structure, encouraging innovation but always working within BBC editorial guidelines.
- To help or in some instances lead on the creative and journalistic process as part of a team of producer/directors delivering compelling content from complex material, including shooting some elements of films and working across the wider News and short form output produced by the BBC.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Demonstrate ability to originate and develop investigative stories;
- Ability to communicate effectively with the Long Form Journalism team and talk confidently to contributors, persuading them to share their stories;
- Experience of self-shooting for long form projects;
- Understanding of the goals and objectives of the Disclosure programme and the ability to communicate these to others;
- Knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and media law including privacy, defamation, contempt of court etc. and how these relate to investigative programme making;
- Clear understanding of major Scottish institutions, and the unique political landscape here.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience of working within a team setting in a fast-paced environment;
- Knowledge, or practical experience, of video and audio editing;
- A strong understanding of long form podcast output, and storytelling techniques;
- Evidence of having successfully taken ownership of a piece of journalism
