The Mine Manager is responsible for ensuring a consistent quality of ROM (Run of Mine) to the production facility. The Mine Manager follows long term mine planning guidance, establishes short to medium term mine plans as a support mechanism, assures consistent ore balance and maintains mining, quality and performance data to support planning and reconciliation. Developing criteria for push backs and exploration ventures is critical. Responsibilities include all mine operations and property required activities, crushing and screening, mobile equipment integrity, surveying, short term planning, health, safety and environmental compliance and supervision of salaried and hourly personnel.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for ensuring a consistent quality of ROM (Run of Mine) to the production facility
Manage and haul mine and plant waste (as required) to properly maintained storage areas
Coordinates ore sampling, analytical data management and ore control to provide graded feed to the plant and provide control data for incorporation into mine models and plans
Develops and maintains short term mine plans within the guidance of the long term mine plan to support 1-5 year planning. Supports annual reconciliation of each year's plan with mine and crusher data collection, survey control and annual plan updates
Formulates department schedules and communicates such to supervisors and hourly personnel for implementation of operations and maintenance. Review maintenance schedules of major pieces of equipment to maximize equipment availability in a cost-effective manner while minimizing down time and un-scheduled repairs
Monitors and manages fugitive emissions such as dust and hydrocarbons from quarry operations, ensures APCD Permit compliance
Complies with all Federal Metal and Non-metallic Mine Safety and Health Standards (MSHA 30 CFR) and IMERYS Safety Standards
Participates in Staff Meetings to interact with The Operations Manager and other Department Managers. Supports discussion of production schedules, quality issues, agree on employee relations and plan future events which have potential impact to the group
Participates in monthly cost book meetings to review unit operations, production costs, customer issues and risk mitigation
Prepares Capital Expense Requests (CERs) for the purchase or lease of equipment utilized in the mining process such as heavy equipment, pumps, crushers and maintenance facilities
Performs administrative functions and audits as required to manage labor, equipment, performance, cost and reporting
OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS
Manages mining grounds maintenance ensuring land integrity
Conducts mine tours as requested by management
Partners with the Mine Planning Department to ensure reclamation plans accurately reflect current mine workings
Maintains the on-site water recycling and handling system
Ensures mine regulatory / compliance monitoring equipment is maintained per scheduled intervals and specifications
Maintains focus of idled mine workings and reports on deficiencies
Education and Experience Requirements
B.S. in Mining Engineering, Minerals Engineering or Geological Engineering
Minimum 2 years of experience in operations, mine planning and maintenance
Supervisory or leadership experience
Engineering skills related to the mining process such as, but not limited to, mine planning, surveying, stockpile estimation, pumping systems, extraction techniques, slope stability, drainage design, dump stability, haul road design, etc.
Responsible for producing the annual capital and operating budget for the quarries
Negotiating: Must be able to negotiate with vendors and others to acquire competitive pricing on equipment, supplies and services on behalf of the company
Interpersonal relationships; must be able to successfully interact with all levels of employees to maintain open lines of communications
Office skills including use of e-mail, IFS, fax and word-processing. Must be competent in Mine planning software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint
Office organization; must be able to produce/organize and maintain files in an orderly fashion
Must be able to successfully interact with vendors to insure cost efficient supply of parts and service, scheduling of unusual work and testing of new products
Good problem solving skills and able to operate independently
Must be able to simultaneously control multiple tasks and initiatives in multiple locations
Obtain and hold an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107) to fly a drone above the mine site.

Salary range: approximately $110K - 130K with 20% bonus, commensurate with experience.
