Associate, Insurance

Kennedys is seeking an Associate with around 4 years' PQE to join our Sydney office. Working closely with Partner Llinos Kent, you will advise on complex insurance matters for leading local and international insurers and defend complaints and claims against various professional, including directors and officers, and deal with regulatory investigations and inquiries.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career under the guidance of a highly regarded Partner, with broad exposure to complex contentious and non-contentious coverage issues across financial lines, warranty & indemnity and cyber, while also managing professional liability litigation in the Supreme and Federal Court.

What you'll do

  • Manage complex coverage matters with appropriate supervision
  • Run insurance litigation matters in the Supreme and Federal Court
  • Assist corporations and individuals respond to regulatory investigations and inquiries
  • Work on high-value professional liability and D&O disputes
  • Handle subrogated recoveries for insurers
  • Draft advices, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Build strong client relationships with insurers and reinsurers in Australia and internationally

About you

  • Around 4 years' PQE with relevant defendant insurance and coverage experience
  • Confidence to manage matters with autonomy while working under supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity
  • A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to different working styles
