Manager - External Reporting (Melbourne/ Sydney)

We are seeking a talented individual to join our External Reporting team at Marsh. This role will be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.


As Manager - External Reporting, you will be responsible for a wide range of financial and regulatory reporting activities across approximately 45 legal entities within Marsh, including Asset Management, Broking, Consulting, and Holding companies.

You will support external and board reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver high-quality, accurate reporting within strict timeframes. You will also manage financial consolidations, internal board reporting, and support the financial health of entities, including solvency and liquidity.

Working within the Pacific controllership team, you will contribute to corporate activities such as mergers and acquisitions and company restructures, ensuring accurate statutory and regulatory records.

We will count on you to:

  • Deliver high-quality financial and regulatory reporting for Marsh Pacific, covering Marsh businesses and Holding Companies
  • Support accounting for corporate transactions under IFRS/AASB, including mergers & acquisitions, restructures, funding initiatives, investments, entity valuations, dividends, and other accounting matters
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including audit committees and board members, to provide efficient, cost-effective, and value-added services
  • Support the financial statement and regulatory audit process, working constructively with external auditors to ensure timely clearance and filing of Annual Reports, Financial Statements, and regulatory returns
  • Collaborate with finance teams to meet internal and external reporting deadlines in a pressured environment
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Support ad hoc finance projects, query resolution, and investigations/analysis as required
  • Proactively suggest improvements and develop best practices within Finance to enhance cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and service benefits

What you need to have:

  • Accounting qualifications CA/ACA/CPA or equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in accounting
  • Big 4 or professional services background is advantageous
  • Financial services industry experience or exposure to international entities
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
  • Knowledge of AFSL/APRA requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and multitask
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent working knowledge of Oracle and MS Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Experience in external audit roles
