Sentinel Consultant

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Sentinel team at Mercer. This is a hybrid role that will be based in Australia.

We will count on you to:

  • Provide senior-level Mercer Sentinel consulting to institutional investors (for example, superannuation fund trustees), investment manager operational and implementation risk reviews and governance support.
  • Lead market-facing interactions with clients, investment managers and market intermediaries (custodians, administrators, transition managers) and develop new client relationships.
  • Produce clear, high-quality operational risk reports and client-facing advice; prepare and peer-review research and client deliverables.
  • Conduct quantitative research and analysis to support recommendations and client reporting.
  • Represent Mercer Sentinel at client events and industry forums, building and maintaining a network of market contacts.
  • Mentor and direct analysts/associates on selected client projects and identify consulting opportunities with existing and new clients.

What you need to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in investment implementation, custody, operations risk management or investment consulting.
  • Proven client relationship management experience and a market-facing consultancy approach.
  • Excellent report-writing, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently on client projects and collaborate effectively within teams.

What makes you stand out:

  • Progress toward or completion of postgraduate qualifications (e.g., Master's).
  • Direct experience with investment implementation risk assessments.
  • Prior experience mentoring or managing junior consultants and building cross-organisational relationships.
  • Familiarity with systems and applications used in investment management processes.
  • Existing industry contacts within the institutional investment or custody community.
