As a Junior Analytics Platform Engineer intern, in this internship you will particularly focus on:

Perform ad-hoc data analysis

  • Answer metric-related questions from product teams, investigate anomalies, and create trend reports.

Manage source data requests

  • Triage incoming requests, clarify requirements, track status, and coordinate with engineering teams.

Shepherd product metrics definitions

  • Guide product teams through Product Metrics Definition (PMD) creation, review pull requests and validate schemas.

Contribute to documentation & testing

  • Write and improve documentation, create and maintain dbt tests, and help keep metric catalogs and onboarding guides up to date.

Develop exploratory insights

  • Identify usage patterns, benchmark products, and explore metric correlations to uncover opportunities and risks.

What you should know / have:

SQL proficiency

  • Comfortable with JOINs, aggregations, window functions, and CTEs to query a data warehouse.

Analytical thinking

  • Ability to understand metrics, spot anomalies, validate results, and challenge assumptions.

Python (basic, data-focused)

  • Experience using Python for simple data manipulation, analysis, or automation tasks.

Stakeholder communication

  • Able to clarify requirements, manage expectations, provide clear updates, and translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Attention to detail

  • Careful with data validation, schema accuracy, and documentation completeness.

Basic technical foundation

  • Familiarity with Git, YAML/JSON, and the command line, plus a willingness to learn dbt and other analytics engineering tools.

Work with a modern data stack

  • Get hands-on experience with data warehouses, dbt, analytics engineering workflows, and metric layer concepts.

Learn how product analytics works in practice

  • See how metrics are defined, governed, and used in decision-making across product teams.

Improve your SQL and data skills

  • Write production-grade queries, optimize them for performance, and apply best practices for data quality and validation.

Contribute to real products and decisions

  • Support product teams with analysis and insights that inform roadmaps, experiments, and feature improvements.

Develop as an analytics engineer

  • Learn how to structure data models, define metrics consistently, and think in terms of reusable, scalable data solutions.

Build professional skills

  • Practice working in an agile, collaborative environment, managing your own tasks, and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
