About the Role:

We are seeking a Mathematics Associate Editor (m/f/d) to join our editorial team, starting July 2026. The role is a fixed-term position covering maternity leave, with a potential extension during the subsequent parental leave.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the publication of scientific books in the field of mathematics, from the initial proposal through to publication. The role requires a high level of communication and organization skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and an affinity for the academic world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate book proposals and manage the peer-review process

  • Liaise with authors throughout the publication process, including negotiating contractual conditions

  • Collaborate with editorial boards to evaluate manuscript submissions

  • Coordinate with internal departments such as production, marketing, and sales

  • Establish and maintain a network of relationships with academics

  • Attend international conferences and visit universities for acquisition

  • Achieve annual publishing goals

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential                                                                                                   

  • Postgraduate degree

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Availability to travel to universities and international conferences

  • Track record of working to deadlines and delivering results

Desirable

  • Advanced degree in Mathematics or related field

  • Experience in academic publishing

  • Working knowledge of LaTeX

  • Good command of German
