What does Senior Print Production Manager Freelancer do at WPP Production?

The Senior Print Production Manager ensures all aspects of the print production process is managed seamlessly and the necessary quality, adherence to client-supplied budget, and timing requirements are achieved. They provide strong project management skills to maintain schedules and track progress for all printed materials on various substrates.

The Senior Print Production manager is also responsible for supervision of on-site installations and effective routing and reviewing of projects through the print production department.

The range of work includes packaging, collateral projects, retail window and in-store graphics, large format Graphics, front lit and back lit fabric prints, event graphics, signage, OOH, table signs, gift cards, and premiums.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Brief and manage supplier to prepare quotation according to project specs
  • Lead supplier to develop sample according to client’s design intent and feed backs, including offer professional advice to supplier in technical, share spec recommendations
  • Draft and track all deliverables by developing timelines and schedules with team, monitor production status and ensure on time delivery

On-site Approvals

  • Attend on-site press approvals, ensuring perfect color reproduction as per the worldwide color approval specifications and guidelines
  • Attend on-site quality approvals, including finishing, quality control, and kit spot-checking, ensure all deliverables are 100% same quality as approved sample.

Installation

  • Brief and manage installation teams regarding space availability and dates of each store window, ensuring correct permits, to ensure seamless installation within tight launch deadlines
  • Inspect each site installation and rectify any flaws immediately, responsible for onsite safety, installation quality and go live on time 

 

Requirements

  • University degree major in Printing/Graphic, and/or a minimum of 7 years print production experience in an agency, in-house corporate graphic design/production department or equivalent group.
  • Expert colour analysis skills
  • Extensive experience with
  • Pre-press
  • Large and small format offset printing
  • UV offset and flat-bed printing
  • Screen printing
  • Digital printing
  • Dye sublimation on fabric techniques
  • UV fabric front lit and back lit print
  • Photographic mediums
  • Post-production finishing techniques
  • Digital photographic mediums
  • Wood, fabric and metal fabrication techniques
  • Solid knowledge and on-hands skills in top luxury paper-based packaging/seasonal giveaway gift development, production and quality management, familiar with various packaging material, printing technology and post-print applications. Senior level on color management and press check are highly appreciated.
  • Rich experience in out-door large format graphic decoration solution, both on material development, printing and onsite installation supervision
  • High levels of patience to achieve desired print quality
  • Based in Shanghai, sometimes short travel in mainland China
