The Junior Scrum Master role supports the Scrum Master Lead and delivery teams in coordinating and facilitating Scrum activities. The primary focus is to assist our Scrum team in delivering high-quality outcomes, maintaining effective team practices, and supporting delivery reporting and governance requirements.
This role is ideal for someone early in their Agile delivery career who is looking to develop strong facilitation and delivery management skills within a structured Scrum environment.
You will also gain exposure to, and provide support across, Business Analyst and Test/QA activities as part of the broader delivery lifecycle.
The Role
Key accountabilities include
Team/People
Support Scrum ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Refinement, and Retrospectives
Help maintain a collaborative, positive, and high-performing team environment
Assist in identifying and tracking impediments, risks, and issues, escalating where appropriate
Encourage team participation and accountability within agreed working practices
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Build effective working relationships with team members and key stakeholders
Delivery
Assist in maintaining sprint plans and tracking delivery progress against agreed milestones
Support monitoring team capacity and resource allocation with guidance from the Scrum Master Lead and PMO
Help track risks, issues, and dependencies and ensure they are documented and visible
Support the updating of tasks accurately in JIRA
Support the preparation of reporting materials for governance and stakeholder meetings
Contribute to monitoring adherence to agreed Definition of Done and quality standards
Work closely with the PMO function and Scrum Master lead to support clarity of priorities and backlog items
Assist in preparing documentation including sprint reports and status updates
Governance and Best Practice
Ensure Scrum events are scheduled and facilitated effectively
Support consistent use of Agile tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
Assist with maintaining accurate progress reporting at the sprint level
Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement activities
Learn and apply servant leadership techniques to foster team accountability
