Frameline releases 2018 film schedule

The largest and longest running LGBT+ film festival in America, Frameline in San Francisco, has released its 2018 schedule. The festival will screen some 152 films from 39 countries, including Studio 54, the hit documentary about the famous 1970s New York nightclub. Actors like Molly Shannon, Vanessa Redgrave, Geraldine and Oona Chaplin, and Isabelle Huppart will be featured in the festival.

Screenings will not be limited to films, with episodic television being put on display as well. Paul Struthers, the director of exhibition and programing at the festival, has said he hopes to bring in better LGBT+ representation in the media by presenting a broader array of programming.

“Frameline is an organization that has always inspired me,” Struthers said. “The team here is amazing, and I look forward to continuing to build on this great legacy.”

Portions of the festival will also be available online to watch.

It is notable as well that 52 percent of the films showcased are directed by women.
