Rapper NLE Choppa confirms sexuality speculation after “coming out” tweet

November 19, 2024

A few days after posting a mysterious tweet about “coming out,” NLE Choppa has finally addressed the speculation about his sexuality.

According to ‘Rap-Up’, following the “Shotta Flow” rapper’s original post on September 5, someone on social media responded with a clip of Tim (Brandon Black) revealing he is gay in Tyler Perry's 2022 film, A Madea Homecoming. In the clip, Joe Madea (Perry) says, “That’s all you want to say? Well, baby, we knew that.” On Monday, September 9, NLE Choppa replied, “Never said I was gay.”

Rumours about his sexuality escalated after he expressed appreciation for the LGBTQ+ community’s support of his single “S**T ME OUT 2.” NLE Choppa discussed these rumours in a recent cover story for PAPER Magazine.

“It's a beautiful thing because the amount of people who [have] had something to say is what fuels me to stay deeply rooted in my purpose,” he explained. “The beauty of it is that it gave me an opportunity to say, ‘Oh, y'all feel like I'm this way? Okay, let me give y'all some more reasons to feel that way, even though I know I’m not. Let me show more love to the people that y'all are saying I'm aligned with because we are all humans at the end of the day.’”

He continued, “Everyone is fighting for some type of acceptance, and I think the most important part is accepting yourself first.”

On the musical front, NLE Choppa is preparing to release S**T SZN on September 27. The project will include ‘Or What’ featuring 41 — made up of Kyle Richh, Jenn Carter, and TaTa — and ’S**T ME OUT 2 - COUNTRY ME OUT,’ featuring J.P.

This upcoming project will be a follow-up to his 2023 album Cottonwood 2, which received critical acclaim for standout tracks like ‘DO IT AGAIN’ and ‘IN THE UK.’
