ABB is seeking an experienced and strategic legal leader to serve as General Counsel, Corporate Legal Services. In this highly visible executive role, you will provide leadership and strategic guidance across key legal domains, ensuring ABB operates within robust legal and ethical frameworks while protecting its global interests, reputation, and compliance obligations.

As head of the Corporate Legal Services Center of Expertise (CoE), you will oversee critical functions such as Legal Finance, Corporate Legal, and Antitrust, advancing legal excellence and innovation across the organization. Reporting directly to the Group General Counsel and serving as a member of the L&I Senior Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in shaping enterprise strategy, governance, and risk management at the highest level.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Define, develop, and execute the strategy, objectives, and performance targets for the Corporate Legal Services CoE.

• Act as an engaged and collaborative member of the L&I Senior Leadership Team.

• Manage enterprise-wide projects and address complex legal and functional challenges across a global matrix environment.

• Act as ABB’s recognized authority in Corporate Legal Services, advising on emerging trends, policies, and strategic priorities.

• Offer trusted counsel to the Executive Committee and senior leadership on key Group-level legal and policy decisions.

Operational Excellence & Delivery

• Oversee end-to-end service processes—from conception to rollout—guaranteeing high-quality legal support organization-wide.

• Define and oversee global KPIs, benchmarking performance and delivering measurable value to ABB Group management and external stakeholders.

• Establish and execute the Annual Performance Plan (APP) for the CoE, ensuring accountability for outcomes.

• Ensure robust reporting, auditing, and continuous performance monitoring across all areas of responsibility.

• Promote process standardization, harmonization, and the sharing of best practices across the Group.

Risk, Compliance & Integrity

• Encourage and support a culture of integrity, ensuring full alignment with ABB’s Code of Conduct, global standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee compliance with all internal policies and external legal frameworks within the scope of responsibility.

• Ensure effective risk management and mitigation practices across legal domains, including Corporate, Legal Finance, and Antitrust.

• Promote and uphold ABB’s core values, safety standards, and ethical principles across all teams.

• Maintain accountability for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development

• Design and implement an effective organizational structure aligned with ABB’s strategic objectives.

• Build, inspire, and develop capable global teams, cultivating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Implement transformational change initiatives to enhance performance and organizational effectiveness.

• Ensure teams are appropriately staffed, skilled, and equipped to deliver on strategic priorities.

• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders across divisions and business areas to deliver coordinated outcomes.

Your Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive leadership experience (12+ years) in senior legal roles within global, complex organizations.

• Demonstrated ability to enhance process efficiency and operational excellence across large-scale legal functions.

• Clear strategic vision, disciplined execution, and well-developed people and planning skills.

• Extensive capabilities in risk management, corporate governance, and organizational simplification.

• Demonstrated experience managing stakeholders from inside and outside the legal department, and experience providing strategic advice at the executive level.

• Experienced in heading teams, steering organizational change, and advising senior leaders worldwide.
