Your role and responsibilities

ABB is looking for an experienced Production Engineering Manager to lead our production engineering initiatives and drive operational excellence. You will oversee process improvements, manufacturing strategies, and cross-functional teams to ensure optimal productivity and quality.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a function focused on the optimization of the Production organization’s assembly methods, processes, and equipment. Each day, you will ensure that the production process aligns with the targets, approves the design, both for internal or external developed processes and performs the final test in accordance with the requirements. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring the efficiency of all external production processes.

The work model for the role is: hybrid with a strong link to onsite activities in Schaffhausen and related production sites within the Product Line manufacturing footprint.

This role is contributing to the Critical Power Product Line in Schaffhausen.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Leadership and team management: leading the production engineering team to meet operational targets and KPIs, allocating related resources to ensure equipment selection, installation and ramp-up, Mentoring and developing engineering staff to create high-performing teams

• Manufacturing strategies and process improvements: Developing and implementing manufacturing strategies and process improvements, including new technologies and partners to define the best option, managing capital projects related to production processes, equipment and industrialization of new products

• Health, safety, and environmental regulations: Ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and standards, collaborating with internal and external functions/partners to develop a safe, smart and highly efficient manufacturing landscape

• Collaboration and operational excellence: Collaborating with key functions of several production sites to optimize production flows and to further develop and optimize the manufacturing footprint, driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, analyzing production data and implement data-driven solutions across sites

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)

• Minimum 8 years of experience in production engineering or manufacturing management

• Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment

• Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment, and automation systems

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities combined with high intercultural competence

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies
