Tool and Die Grinder – Grade 18
ABB is looking for a Tool and Die Grinder (Entry-Level Tool and Die Maker) for our Tool Room Department.
This entry-level position focuses on surface grinding to service carbide progressive lamination stamping dies. You will directly relieve the workload of senior makers while training through a structured pathway. Over time you will master all tool room equipment, solve complex production problems, and eventually advance into a full Tool and Die Maker role.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining production uptime, tool performance, and product quality by ensuring all cutting tools and dies are properly maintained, sharpened, and repaired to precise specifications.

Years 1–2: Master high-precision grinding and basic manual machining.
Years 3–4: Crosstrain on CNC, Wire EDM, and full progressive die troubleshooting and feed rates for tool steel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-12 hours per shift) on concrete floors while maintaining pace with production demands; occasionally sit during breaks or specific tasks.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly; frequently grip, turn, bend, stoop, and reach in various positions including overhead; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work.
• Visual acuity sufficient to read blueprints, technical drawings, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers); ability to inspect fine details and dimensional accuracy on machined components.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment including surface grinders, electric chain hoists, pneumatic tools, electric and manual pallet jacks, and controls with knobs and buttons; dexterity to perform equipment set-up and clear die jams.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environment with exposure to noise (hearing protection required), dust, metalworking fluids, temperature variations, and moving machinery; ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes.
• Ability to identify and respond to safety hazards; locate and operate emergency stops and safety equipment; verify proper function of safety devices including emergency stops and light curtains per safety protocols.

The work model for the role is: Onsite
Hourly pay range: $25.00-$31.28
(Shift premium for 2nd & 3rd shift)
