DevOps Engineer - GitHub Platform & Tooling

You will:

 

  • Manage and operate the central GitHub repository platform for ABS Germany Web / Client, supporting over 300 members and 50 repositories comprising ~9.4 million lines of code.
  • Provide tooling and standardized processes for the software development and release lifecycle, enabling daily CI builds across the organization.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency in the management of source control and build infrastructure.
  • Centralize repository and build operations to allow ABS developers to focus on delivering high-quality solutions rather than tooling overhead.
  • Implement, maintain, and operate the build pipeline for ABS in Germany.
  • Create analyses and implementation concepts for business requirements related to source control, CI/CD, and developer tooling.
  • Document and define actual and target processes for organizational, procedural, and technical analysis of the GitHub platform.
  • Conduct impact analysis for requirements to be implemented across the repository landscape.
  • Perform technical analysis of applications concerning architecture, performance, reusability, security, etc.
  • Clarify requirements with requesting teams and create implementation concepts documented as user stories.
  • Write testable, scalable, and efficient code, setting coding standards for the team.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering their professional growth and encouraging the adoption of industry best practices.
  • Ensure software quality standards are met by enforcing code standards, conducting rigorous testing, and implementing continuous improvement processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals and deliver effective and impactful software applications.
  • Foster transparency about the state of implementation to the team and requesting teams/stakeholders.
  • Minimize technical debt and identify improvements and refactoring opportunities.
  • Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends, continuously enhancing technical skills, and driving innovation within the development team.
  • Follow Allianz CPI procedures: Change/Problem/Incident management.
  • Improve monitoring and alerting according to Allianz standards.
  • Maintain, improve, and fix bugs in implemented solutions.
  • Process support cases, including technical and user errors (2nd/3rd Level Support).
  • Check input channels for issues/requirements and alerts, handling them according to CPI procedures (Teams, SNOW, Group Mailbox).
  • Holiday calendar followed should be the OE holiday calendar.

 

Your skills:

 

  • University Graduate degree (mandatory).
  • Techstack expertise in Java, Maven/Tycho, Jenkins, Groovy, Dynatrace, Prometheus/Grafana, GitHub, GIT Runner, and GIT Actions.
  • Proven track record in software development (+5 years), with a degree or proven experience.
  • Experience operating and administering large-scale GitHub or source control platforms serving hundreds of users and repositories.
  • Experience in CI/CD projects for large software development projects (>25 Mio. LoC).
  • Deep understanding of how to package JAVA applications.
  • Deep understanding of JAVA OSGi, ABS, and the development lifecycle of ABS in Germany.
  • Experience working in an agile team setting.
  • Exposure to AI tools is an add-on advantage.
