AWS Legal Corporate Counsel

DESCRIPTION:

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney based in Beijing to support our Amazon Web Services business and marketing teams. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, artificial intelligence and machine learning, agentic AI, and more.

This Corporate Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to business and marketing teams, support complex cloud technology transactions, and develop innovative solutions that enable us to scale legal support to our global client base.

The role carries primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals - including highly complex, high-value, strategic negotiations - and provides ongoing legal counsel and guidance to business and marketing teams. This role will also contribute to other legal workstreams, including managing legal issues in existing commercial relationships, advising on risks related to new business initiatives, and handling pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.


Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. They work well within a large legal team but are also able to work independently on transactional and project work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 6+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent
- Licensed to practice law in China and/or the US, UK, or other common law jurisdiction
- In-depth understanding of Chinese law and practices
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills in both English and Chinese
- Mature, enthusiastic, fast-learning, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with in-house work at a technology or internet company
- Knowledge of and experience with cloud infrastructure technologies
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements
