DESCRIPTION:

Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a talented business lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving real estate in Brazil. This is an individual contributor position based in São Paulo.

Key job responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft real estate agreements including purchase and sale agreements, ground leases, build-to-suit leases, and development agreements as well as construction contracts.
- Partner with business teams to structure real estate transactions and construction projects that meet Amazon's operational needs while managing legal and business risks.
- Advise on land use, zoning and permitting strategies to support facility development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Finance, Tax, and Construction to drive projects from site selection through facility launch.
- Develop creative solutions to complex legal issues that arise during real estate acquisition and development.
- Support post-acquisition matters including construction contracts, property management agreements, and operational issues.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks in real estate transactions and development projects.
- Drive continuous improvement in legal and other processes to increase efficiency and scalability across the real estate portfolio.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 8+ years of legal experience
- Bachelor's degree in Law with Brazil Bar association (OAB)
- Excellent communication skills, both in Portuguese and English (fluency).
- Experience in technology and the e-commerce industry or equivalent
- Experience managing internal stakeholder relationships and working successfully across organizations
- Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess business processes/products, spot issues, and structure practical solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and providing strategic legal counsel in fast-paced, high-growth settings
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
