Corporate Counsel, WW Ops Legal

Japan , Tokyo
Full-time

DESCRIPTION:

Amazon Japan Legal seeks an experienced attorney to support our rapidly growing operations business in Japan, with a focus on fulfillment center (FC) operations and operational compliance. You will advise the business on commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters while working alongside the latest AI tools.

Amazon Japan Legal is looking for an experienced, smart, and motivated attorney to support our rapidly growing operations business in Japan, with a focus on fulfillment center (FC) operations and operational compliance. The position reports to the operation and logistics legal lead in Japan.

The Operations Legal team supports Amazon's global logistics and transportation business that fulfills orders and delivers packages to customers. We advise on the infrastructure, warehouse and fulfillment center operations, and technology that make deliveries happen, from receiving inventory into our fulfillment network to transporting items into and out of our sites. Operations Legal plays a key role in the innovation and technology that make Amazon's products and services best in class.

This position is built around two pillars: supporting FC (fulfillment center) operations and driving operational compliance. You will serve as the primary lawyer counseling the business on a broad range of commercial, regulatory, and compliance matters arising in Amazon's fulfillment operations in Japan, including workplace health and safety, environment and sustainability, security and loss prevention, and other operational compliance areas. You will work directly with the business, advising on compliance challenges arising from the rapidly evolving regulatory environment; supporting the launch of new products, services, and operating models; negotiating, structuring, and drafting commercial transactions that support FC operations; coordinating with public policy and engaging with regulators to influence pending legislation and rule-making and in response to regulatory inquiries; and assisting the business in designing and implementing risk-tested and scalable compliance. You will also advise on cutting-edge legal topics shaping Amazon's operations, including emerging AI and privacy regulations and the growing use of robotics and automation.

At Amazon, you will work alongside the latest AI and Generative AI (GenAI) tools that are increasingly woven into how legal teams operate, from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate research and analysis to GenAI that helps you focus on the work that matters most. You will have the opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into our culture.

This position will be based in Amazon Japan's Meguro office.
