Legal Counsel, Amazon Leo

DESCRIPTION:

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a talented lawyer to join the Amazon Legal team supporting Amazon Leo. You will be embedded with the Amazon Leo's ground infrastructure services and operations teams (ground gateways, networking infrastructure), with a focus on transactions in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). You will structure, draft, and negotiate a range of agreements (e.g., agreements needed to contract for gateway sites, and to construct and operate ground gateways), and counsel the business team on legal issues related to Amazon Leo's ground infrastructure. The successful candidate will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, enjoys being continually challenged, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

A day in the life
You will structure, draft, and negotiate a range of agreements, and counsel the business team on various legal issues related to ground infrastructure (real estate, construction, telecom). The successful candidate will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- License to practice law in Europe, US or other common law jurisdiction
- Experience with commercial agreements and commercial transactions
- 5+ years post qualified experience as a lawyer

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
