Amazon's Operations Technology Solutions Supply Chain (OTS-SC) team is looking for a skilled material buyer to help design and optimize a prudent supply chain network for supplying technology equipment to Amazon operating facilities in Japan. The role will involve understanding the physical and digital supplier, distributor, original equipment manufacturers to our operating facilities.
As a Materials Buyer, you will manage purchasing operations for IT hardware and services for the Japan. This position falls under the Material Management vertical of OpsTech Solutions Supply Chain team. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver value to the customer, meeting the scope, budget and timeline of the effort. Projects will be in disparate geographic locations and require strong communication skills to coordinate onsite and remote work with teams across the globe.


Key job responsibilities
- Execute and/or manage Purchase Requisition / Purchase Order process for IT needs across the region.
- Communicate with suppliers fulfillment and on time delivery in Japanese.
- Main point of contact for material issues both internal and external with suppliers.
- Have a strong understanding of bill of material concept, processes, and general discipline.
- Understand key forecast inputs, trends, and downstream impact on materials / availability.
- Support all devices through New Project Intake (NPI) to end of life, establishing material strategies to support warranty requirements even beyond end of manufacturing.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers to implement strategic solutions to continually improve our material management processes.
- Work closely with global and regional suppliers to proactively eliminate shortages, as required.
- Be responsible for monthly / quarterly metric reporting.
- Familiar with procurement software such as Coupa and Ariba or understand the concept of procurement software.
- Having programing knowledge is plus

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- 5+ years of supply chain experience

A day in the life
You'll collaborate with diverse stakeholders and vendors/manufacturers across multiple time zones in English and Japanese. Your ability to drive successful outcomes in complex, cross-functional projects will be essential in this position. You'll balance strategic thinking with practical implementation, always keeping the customer experience at the forefront of your decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 2+ years of program or project management experience
- 2+ years of supply chain experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Business level English (communication / writing / reading)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3+ years of procurement, purchasing, supply chain related work in a procurement organization experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
