DESCRIPTION:

EC2 Networking is at an exciting inflection point as we shape the next generation of cloud networking. To deliver on our ambitious roadmap, we are growing our team and looking for talented engineers to join us.

You will be part of the team that owns the software-defined networking dataplane stack powering EC2 across workloads such as machine learning, high-performance computing, cloud gaming, healthcare, fintech, and video streaming. Your work will directly impact millions of customers worldwide by delivering secure, scalable, highly available, and high-performance networking at massive scale.

In this role, you will own the design, implementation, testing, and delivery of networking capabilities across multiple areas. This includes performance and availability improvements for machine learning and high-performance workloads running on accelerated EC2 platforms, as well as new high-performance networking interfaces and instance capabilities for edge computing.

You will help design and build the next generation of high-performance virtualized networking capabilities for EC2. This work spans the networking dataplane, hardware and software co-design to implement novel HW offload capabilities, packet-processing optimizations to achieve high PPS and bandwidth, hardware offload capabilities, and new approaches to flow management and caching. You will solve complex systems challenges where performance, scale, availability, and correctness are all critical, while helping extend EC2 networking to support new workload types and deployment environments.

We are looking for software engineers with experience in dataplane development, systems or embedded software, cloud computing, and networking. The role offers broad technical scope and the opportunity to influence multiple platforms, solve complex distributed systems problems, and innovate across the EC2 networking stack.

You will also work alongside and learn from Principal, Senior Principal, and Distinguished Engineers across EC2, AWS, and Amazon, providing exceptional opportunities to deepen your technical expertise and accelerate your career growth.

Key job responsibilities
- Design, scoping, implementation, and integration testing of performance optimizations and dataplane features that run on the EC2 Nitro System that power Machine Learning workloads.
- You set high standards for development processes, tools, and automation to enhance team productivity and quality.
- You influence best engineering practices on design and coding.
- You identify business problems and opportunities, and advocate for technical solutions that influences the technical roadmap for your team.
- Mentor junior engineers with scoping, design, and developing scalable and maintainable code.
- Collaborate with Senior/Principal Engineers, Product Managers, Sr TPMs, and cross-functional teams to define requirements, system architectures, and implement robust and scalable solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 4+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 3+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience
- 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience in embedded development in C/C++
- Knowledge of system performance, memory management, and parallel computing principles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of machine learning model architecture and inference
- Experience in software development, or experience in Linux and Networking protocols and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
