Sr Corporate Counsel - Retail , Brazil International Stores

DESCRIPTION:

Amazon is seeking a business-minded Corporate Counsel to join our Legal team in Brazil. This role will provide legal support to Amazon's Retail, Marketing, and Prime businesses, serving as a trusted advisor to business leaders on a wide range of matters. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment, is comfortable navigating ambiguity, and can independently drive legal strategy across multiple business lines.

Key job responsibilities
- Commercial Transactions: Structure, draft, negotiate, and close a wide variety of commercial agreements, including vendor agreements, marketing and advertising contracts, sponsorship deals, licensing arrangements, co-marketing partnerships, and Prime-related service agreements.
- Strategic Counsel: Serve as the primary legal advisor to Retail, Marketing, and Prime business teams in Brazil, providing proactive, practical, and business-oriented legal guidance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with business, finance, tax, public policy, and other teams..
- Regulatory Navigation: Advise on applicable Brazil regulatory frameworks.
- Risk Management & Ambiguity: Identify, assess, and manage legal risks in novel and ambiguous situations where precedent may not exist - developing creative, scalable solutions to help the business to move forward.
- Playbook & Scalability: Develop and maintain legal playbooks, templates, and self-service tools that enable business teams to operate at speed while managing legal risk.
- Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with senior business leaders, earning trust through sound judgment, responsiveness, and the ability to simplify complex legal issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- 10+ years of legal experience
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- 3+ years of drafting and negotiating the legal terms in a broad range of standard commercial contracts experience
- Law degree (LL.B.) from an accredited Brazilian institution; active registration with the OAB.
- Strong knowledge of Brazilian commercial law, consumer protection, advertising regulation, and e-commerce frameworks.
